Some of the best conversations take place on a road trip...especially at night. Life is a journey...a road trip to our rightful home...and these are some of my thoughts along the way.

Cosby Show Fun!!

Ok...this post is dedicated to Tempest Bledsoe...aka...Vanessa Huxtable. Currently she is on the reality Tv show...Celebrity Fit Club. Love it!! So...in honor of her desire to get rid of the "cute chunk"...we are going to have a little contest. I am going to list some of Vanessa's most memorable lines from different episodes of The Cosby Show. Your job is to identify the episode. If you can correctly name (describe) all of the episodes...you will receive a prize from Bath and Body Works. So....let's begin. (Nicole, Erin, and Jaclyn...do not let me down. :)

1. "You mean to tell me...you brought us out here in the cold and you don't have a key?"

2. "I always felt safe with him around."

3. "Robert...(Raaahhhbert)"

4. "And now Rudy may be blinded for life."

5. "They called me 'rich girl'"

6. "My man left me...my woman left me...my dog left me...and now all I can do is wine the
blues."

7. "Please do not eat that apple in my office."

8. "I love you Jeremy."

9. (singing) "Rules...rules are for fools."

10. (singing) "Everybody's doing a brand new dance now."

Bonus...."Now don't think I am complaining because I eat all of my vegtables and you don't buy me a thing."

Have fun!!!

Let me first start out by saying that this might just be my favorite blog post ever! It combines two of my favorite things...games and The Cosby Show! Does it get much better than this? I don't think it can!!! Here goes nothing.

    1. This is the episode where Theo is learning about fire safety at school and wants to make sure that the Huxtable family is properly informed on all safety issues concerning a fire in the home. He has a mock fire drill and assembles everyone outside, with the exception of Cliff (he is indisposed at the moment). While Theo and the rest of the family (Claire, Vanessa and Rudy) are outside he realizes the he has forgotten the key thus causing the famous "you didn't bring a key" line. While Claire sends Theo around back to check the door and she is busy checking the windows Cliff finishes up in the lavatory and heads outside to complete the family evacuation. At this point we find that the entire Huxtable family is locked out of their home and that is where the episode ends. We can assume that they did indeed get back into their home b/c there were infact other episodes.

2.In this episode we find sweet little Vanessa just trying make the situation better after she has had to tell her dear sister Rudy that her goldfish is "decreased". How sad :-( While in the bathroom wearing her black leotard because "it was the only thing she had in black" she tries to comfort Rudy in her time of need by saying that "she always felt safe with Lamont around".

    3. This episode is one of many that involve celebrities either stopping by the Huxtable house or inviting them to be part of a special show or event. Diving right into the episode we find that the Huxtable family has been invited by Stevie Wonder to come and join him for a while at the studio. Why Stevie Wonder you ask?? Well, earlier in the episode Denise and Theo had been in a fender-bender with none other than the Motown legend himself! Out of the kindness of his heart Stevie invites the family into the studio to play around a bit. He decides to record a song and use sound bits from the whole family.... it turns out to be a pretty fun little tune...jammin on the one! Of course this is all happening during the "Vanessa and Robert" romance so when Stevie asks her if she has a boyfriend, she in reply says "Robert".

    4. We are all aware that this is the pilot episode in which Cliff and Claire only have four children. There is no Sandra to be found...I'm glad they added her! We also find that the downstairs portion of the set is completely different from other episodes. Well, after being sent away from the table for throwing vegetables Vanessa and Rudy are told to go upstairs and take a bath and go to bed. While Vanessa is shampooing Rudy’s hair Denise comes in and tosses them out of the bathroom. Cliff comes upstairs to talk to Theo about his bad grades but is sidelined by the fighting girls. After solving the shampoo problem by sending Rudy and Vanessa into his bathroom Cliff then proceeds on to solve the "Theo" problem. What a great dad! I love Cliff Huxtable! Also, you will all be happy to know that the shampoo was washed out and Rudy wasn't "blinded for life".

    5. This is another episode that involves my favorite Huxtable character...Vanessa! The episode opens by Vanessa inviting a few friends over after school. While giving them a tour of the house she happens to talk about a painting hanging in the living room that Cliff and Clair had purchased at an auction. She makes the mistake of mentioning how much money her parents paid for the painting. Well, the next day at school her friends decide that it would be fun to make fun of Vanessa and call her rich. Vanessa then comes home and explains to Cliff and Claire that her life wouldn't be so hard if they weren't "so rich". Cliff quickly let's Vanessa know that she is not rich and that she actually has nothing. Claire, being the wonderful mother that she is, lets Vanessa know that "rich is when your money works for you" and not when " you work for your money". She then goes on to let Vanessa know that they are rich in love and all that jazz. I love Claire!

    6. This is another episode that involves a random celebrity dropping by the Huxtable house. The episode begins with Theo and Elvin in the Village seeing a show by some famous blues singer. Well, they soon find out that said singer will not be attending and that Riley Jackson, played by none other than Mr. BB King, will be filling in. Theo and Elvin are more than pleased with the fill-in performer. Theo is so pleased that he buys a record to take home and show Cliff. Upon returning home Theo finds out that Riley Jackson is a good friend of his grandparents, Russell and Anna. Well, because Russell and Anna are out of town Riley stops by to have dinner with Cliff and Claire. Crazy...I know. Anyhow, a second story line to this episode is that Vanessa is having trouble in the romance department yet she wants nothing to do with hearing "the blues". As Claire goes into the kitchen to console her daughter she quickly let's Vanessa know that she is suffering from "The Blues". I love this episode because it is another one where we get to hear the sweet voice of Claire Huxtable! We also get to hear Kenny sing the blues, which is great!

    7. Theo is tossed into the "Real World" after having it out, once again with his father. Instead of yelling at the boy Cliff decides to show Theo a thing or two by turning the Huxtable house upside down! All Huxtable family members are included and play different characters through out. Theo has to try and get a loan from Vanessa, who is playing an assistant to Ms. Griswold (Rudy), the bank president. She asks him to not eat an apple in her office and Theo decides "he can't play this game with her". Well, to make a long story short, Theo learns his lesson and Cliff and Claire share a bacon burger dog with their son that evening.

    8. In this episode we find our friend Vanessa in trouble once again. She has lied...lied...lied. She lied to her parents by telling them that she was at the library with Janet and all the while she was out on a date with Jeremy. Cliff and Claire find out and they are not happy. Cliff then invites Jeremy over for "a little talk" where he uses the famous "apple demonstration". We don't find out in this episode but it is referenced in a later episode that Cliff went as far as to actually skin the apple to prove his point. That Cliff is so creative!

    9. This one stumped me. I am just not sure but I think it is a later episode involving Pam, Lance and Charmain. I think this quote comes from Lance after Pam has told him that she will not be able to attend a party in the Bronx because it will put her out after her curfew, which is 10pm on weeknights. I am just not sure about this one though.

    10. AAhhhh...the Locomotion. Yet another "Vanessa filled" episode. Vanessa and two of her friends decide that it would be fun to tape themselves singing "The Locomotion" at a little dinky place in the mall. After watching the recording they think that they are pretty good and decide to give recording another shot. This time they decide that they are going to change their wardrobe and take some singing lessons. They also decide to name themselves the "Lipsticks". Well, the final product does not go over well with Cliff and Claire. Basically, Claire pitches a fit and sends the girls off upstairs to change and wash off the pounds of make-up they have applied. This episode, like all others, ends well. The girls give up the "Lipsticks" but do get the opportunity to sing one last time at their voice teacher’s concert. The have the famous "lllaaaaaa" line in one of her songs. Fun times!

Bonus. The episode begins with Rudy sitting at the kitchen table not wanting to eat her brussel sprouts. She just plain refuses. Story continues and we find that Cliff and Claire are going to go out dancing with friends and Denise wants to camp out on 32nd street to get tickets to a concert. Well, of course Cliff says "no" to 32nd street so Denise's friends decide to hang out at "Club Huxtable" and work on their new dance moves. Denise decides to ask Theo (who is in the kitchen trying to convince Rudy to eat the sprouts) to help move furniture so that there will be plenty of dancing space. Rudy wants to join in and Denise tells her that the only way she can take part is to eat the sprouts. Now earlier in the episode we find once again that Vanessa is upset that she is not properly rewarded for eating her vegetables. In the end it all works out fine...as it always does in the Huxtable house!

Cynthia, I would like to apologize for my delayed entry in your game. I was out of town and had no idea about the competition. I hope that my entry is accepted!

    Nicole :-)
