Some of the best conversations take place on a road trip...especially at night. Life is a journey...a road trip to our rightful home...and these are some of my thoughts along the way.

Cosby Show Fun...Part 2

Ok...due to the overwhelmingly positive response...I have decided to dedicate the week to the Cosby Show. Moment of silence....ok. At the end of the week I will post the results and the winners. Even if someone else replies...feel free to respond as well. There can be more than one winner.

Today our featured Huxtable will be Theo. As far as what Malcolm is doing now...we do not know. But we wish him all the best as he continues to further his career.

While Vanessa was known for delivering some sassy lines....Theo was known for always getting in trouble or grounded....or a stern talking to by Cliff. List at least 5 times this happened to Theo. Explain the episode or situation.

*For those of you who did not watch Cosby while growing up or you have not been able to see them in reruns...my heart goes out to you. But it is not too late. Season 1 is currently on sale at your local Target, Best Buy , or Wal-mart. Season 2 will be available March 7th. Go buy it before it is too late. :) "Deeper" posts will return after this tribute to the Cosby Show. :)

I do love that Theo!! Or "Teddy" as he was called back in the pilot episode. I'm glad the writers went with "Theo". I do agree that Theo got "a many a talkin to" over the years and he saw his fair share of punishments. Poor guy :-) Let's just see what I can think of here...

    1. Now, of course we can't forget the pilot episode...where it all began. Theo is in trouble because of his grades and Claire just can't cope. She sends Cliff in to talk to the boy. Upon chatting Cliff learns that Theo just wants to be a "regular person” with a "regular job". He feels that his grades are fine for a "regular person" because he has no plans for college. Cliff then tries to turn the tables by showing Theo how much it costs to be a regular person by using monopoly money. Theo just doesn't get it! Cliff then gets fed up and lets Theo know in a stern but loving way that he is going to try hard and go to college! This is also the episode where we have the famous "I brought you into this world and I'll take you out" line!

    2. We also can't forget the time that Theo got his ear pierced to impress a girl! That was a fun episode. Not only did Theo get into trouble but his ear turned out to be infected and he had to wear a bandage on it to dinner that night. Cliff made him wear the big bandage just so his grandpa Russell would ask what was wrong with him. We also learn in this episode that Cliff once tried to straighten his hair to impress Claire...priceless!

    3. Does anyone remember the episode where Theo tried to reenact the circus performance by launching Rudy in the air? In this hilarious episode Theo is left to baby-sit for Vanessa and Rudy while Cliff and Claire are out. Well, upon coming home Cliff and Claire find that Theo has once again been irresponsible and has tried to cover up and lie for the fact that Rudy's face is red and swollen. After a stern talking to, we find that Theo tried to launch Rudy in the air like a cannon jumper and instead of landing on the bed like she was suppose to she landed smack against the wall. Do I have to say anymore? Theo...trouble...grounded :-)

    4. Remember the track meet? Circus burger? Being late for Vanessa's play? Theo & Cockroach?? Court? Theo and Cockroach arrive home late from the track meet when they were specifically told to be home at a certain time as so the family would not be late to Vanessa's play. The boys come in late and very hungry. This puzzles Claire seeing as how she knows that the whole track team goes to circus burger after every meet. She questions the boys and they make up a lie about not being able to eat. Claire doesn't buy it. She decides to dig a little deeper and does what any good parent would do! She subpoenas her son and his friend to "fake court". After intense questioning Claire and Cliff find out that Theo and Cockroach were making fun of one of the workers at Circus Burger. They made her cry and angered the track coach. In the end Theo and Cockroach are kicked off of the track team. Not only is Theo off the track team he also has to deal with his parent's disappointment in him. Sad! Theo...what were you thinking??

    5. My first four stories of Theo and his troubled experiences were from earlier Cosby Show episodes but even when I recall later episodes in my mind I find that Theo was still getting into trouble. Remember when Theo was older and Cliff and Claire went out of town? Do you remember what Theo did?? Well, after being coaxed by a couple of friends Theo decides to have a small intimate get together that turns into a huge blow out party that wrecks the Huxtable house! Things are damaged, ruined and broken! Theo and his friends make a list that they present to Cliff and Claire. Let me just say that the rest was not pretty! In the words of Cliff..."Let me tell you something. Your mother and I go into the kitchen. You can go out and get in MY car. You can drive BACKWARDS to Coney Island, run over the hot dog man and TWO stop signs and you won't be in any more trouble than you are in now.".

Cynthia, I love this game!! Let's play everyday!

    Nicole :-)

how great is this??? Theo is my favorite Huxtable!

    1. The first episode that came to my mind is when Clair found a joint in one of Theo's books...although this was different because Theo was innocent. (It also cracks me up that the kid who put the joint there is named "Tony Braxton" (ahh..90s R&B), lovingly known as The Enforcer. But Theo does get in trouble in this episode for playing football in the freezing cold without his hat and gloves. Although he tries to outsmart his mom...(Clair Huxtable seems to be amazingly outsmartable)she finds his hat and gloves in the mailbox, which is a classic moment in the Huxtable household.

    2. How about when Clair finds women's lingere in Theo's laundry and they come to find out it belongs to Justine...his girlfriend. I mean, this is good stuff!

    3. Cliff and Clair get sick and Theo is in charge of taking care of the house...he makes Vanessa and Rudy do all the work so he can spend extra time with his girlfriend Lana. If I remember correctly...he got his when his sisters turned on him!

    4. Clair enters the produce contest at the mall...(I mean does that right there say enough about how great this show is?) Theo and Vanessa lose Rudy at the mall...and she ends up at a Chinese restaurant that her friend's dad owns. My favorite is the fact that Theo and Vanessa try to cover up the fact that they lost Rudy.

    5. It's already been mentioned...but it's worth mentioning again because of its sheer magnificence...the pilot episode. My favorite part of the scene where Theo and Cliff are talking about life and grades is this: Theo gives a little mini-speech about how it's hard being the son of a doctor and a lawyer and how so much is expected of him and he should be loved for who he is. The crowd goes wild and applauds him...then Cliff says, "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. No wonder you get D's!" I love the fact that the live studio audience thought that Cliff was going to buy into Theo's speech.

Cynthia - Just a little Malcolm update for you. I saw him on "Celebrity Poker Showdown" the other day. He is still sporting the long hair...YES!! He didn't win...sad! He was second to go belly-up in the big game. I forgot to mention this in my earlier post. That's all I know :-)

Okay, I am a little late on this one, but I'll give it a whirl. I haven't read anyone else's posts yet.

    1. A classic - when Theo gets his ear pierced. I love when he's trying to hide it and he and Cliff do the lean back game. I wonder how long it took them to choreograph it?

    2. I also love the one where Theo says he just wants to be a regular person. Hilarious! He gives this heartwarming speech and then Cliff says, "That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard! No wonder you get D's. You are afraid to try b/c you're afraid your brain is going to ooze out your ear." Then Cliff says something about how Theo is going to try b/c Cliff said so -"I brought you into this world, and I'll take you out." I remember my first grade teacher quoting that the next day after that episode premiered. Love it!

    3. the one where Cliff and Claire find Justine's unmentionables in Theo's laundry. They find out Justine and Theo have been living together. He ends up staying with Justine's parents b/c he has no where else to go.

    4. the one where Theo and Cockroach make fun of the girl at Circus burger. Claire puts him on trial.

    5. the one where he hides his gloves and mittens in the mailbox so he doesn't look "uncool" in front of his friends. Not really a harsh scolding, but one I thought the other Cosby Champions, Nicole and Jaclyn, wouldn't mention.

Cynthia, this has been a pleasure. I only wish I had more time to devote to this to give more play by plays. Nicole, I think you should start one of these games with Friends quotes/situations.

I whole-heartedly agree with the Cosby Show trivia game...I too love games and Cosby! Oh, and I do remember that Malcolm was in a sitcom with Jason Alexander...maybe 2 years ago...it didn't last very long only a couple episodes. Hopefully he'll make another comeback soon.
